Global Links Acquires MainStreetChamber To Work With BXI

Global Links Corp. (OTC:GLCO) has announced the acquisition of national business networking organization MainStreetChamber (MSC).

MainStreetChamber develops and engages a wide network of business professionals in local marketplaces across the nation by offering free membership and networking events. Chapter presidents, who serve to promote business in their area, run MSC's local groups. The company offers a no-cost platform, in order to reach more businesses and build a very strong national organization.

MSC will utilize the buying power of its member base to negotiate exclusive rebate and discount programs with national retail corporations, whereby its members will receive specific rebates or discounts on their products and services. Revenue will then be generated in the form of a monthly commission paid by these corporations, based on the amount of business generated from MSC members. The larger its membership base becomes, the stronger the discount rate and rebate programs can benefit the members as well as its organizational structure.

Global Links' management also cites the acquisition as a strategic move that will strengthen the business of its subsidiary company, BXI Trade Exchange. Both subsidiaries are currently offering business opportunities by opening local offices.

Global Links President Frank Dobrucki, noted, "MainStreetChamber is a perfect fit for Global Links and will create a strong synergy with our subsidiary BXI Trade Exchange, which will offer MSC members new ways of conducting business through its barter process. Both organizations will be able to refer members to each other, which will simultaneously increase the value of both companies as each business's strength is predicated on the size and strength of their member bases. This will in turn increase Global Links' revenue and increase shareholder value."

Barter's Use Inexpensively Boosts Employee Attitudes

Employee attitudes (not cash flow or technology) most affect a company's competitiveness, reports the Stanford Business School Magazine. It is not always possible to give top performers a monetary raise. But you can show each one you value their contribution by creating a variety of low-cost, high impact rewards.

The following examples may be a springboard to further ideas

  • Take your employee to lunch at one of the restaurants in your trade exchange. Or obtain scrip, to give them a dinner for two.

  • Award a one-month, half-year or yearly health-club membership through your exchange.

  • Give flowers or a balloon bouquet.

  • Name a space after the employee. (The Susan Smith corridor, for example.)

  • Provide a monthly premium parking space.

  • Volunteer to do the employee's least desirable work task for a day.

  • Give a gift certificate (scrip) from a jewelry or other fine retailer from your trade exchange.

  • Send a thank-you letter or e-mail card to the deserving employee.

  • Give a gift certificate for a massage, or day at a local spa through your exchange.

Are Cashflow Problems Constantly Facing Your Company?

According to David Birch, a gazelle is a company that has a minimum of $100,000 in revenues and manages to grow at least 20% over a four-year period. Only 3% of all companies have accomplished this demanding task.  Birch, who is credited with hatching the notion that small rather than large companies are the engines of job creation, says that a small company views profitability as variable and quite manipulatable. But cashflow is a constant issue because of fixed (payroll) expenses and overhead.

Positive cashflow equals business survival. But not all cashflow is due to good management, and not all of it will help you survive either. Accordingly, if you find that you have extra cash at the end of the month, follow this five-step strategy:

  1. Determine the source of the your positive cashflow.
  2. Project future cashflow.
  3. Establish priorities for the cashflow.
  4. Research viable strategies and opportunities to generate more cashflow.
  5. Choose the best strategy for your business and stick with it.

After all is said and done, positive cashflow comes from only four sources: new debt, new investment, sale of fixed assets, and operations.

The first three are limited. So if the fourth source, operations, doesn't kick in, then sooner or later your creditors pull the plug.

Make it your goal to go after one of the best sources for new cashflow — working with your trade exchange counselor to cover more of your company's business expenses with trade dollars.

David Birch has a degree in applied physics and engineering from Harvard. He spent his early career at NASA, working on the Hubble Space Telescope and the Mariner space program. In 1983, Birch started Cognetics, subsequently rechristened Arc Analytics — a research and consulting firm in Waltham (MA).
