Power Of Print, A $90 Million Campaign
Major
magazine publishers have embarked on a campaign with a
simple message that Print rules! Five leading magazine
publishers will provide nearly 1,400 pages of ads through
magazines including People, Vogue and
Ladies Home Journal this year.
Backing
the campaign are Time Warners Time Inc. Hearst, Advance
Publications Cond Nast, Wenner Media, and Meredith. The
ads were created by WPPs Young & Rubicam.
The $90
million campaign figure is based on the public ad-rates for
each of the participating magazines, and is the largest
joint campaign effort ever by the publishers.
Entrepreneurs Continue Trimming Payrolls
The
payroll company Automatic Data Processing reports that
private-sector firms in the U.S. eliminated 22,000 jobs in
January, the 24th monthly decline in a row. While employers
of all sizes trim their work forces when the economy
suffers, small firms adopt the strategy sooner and more
aggressively as cash flow is paramount to a small business
to keep its doors open.

Small Business Hirings Remain Stagnant
The National Federation of Small Business (NFIB) monthly survey for
the month of February showed there still isnt any energy in hiring.
Increased employment by an average of 5 workers per firm was
reported by 10% of owners, but 19% of owners reduced employment by
3.2 workers per firm.
Additionally, there is no pressure on compensation in this labor
market. Few owners complain of a lack of qualified workers for their
job openings.

Self-Employment Soaring Among 55+
More than 5 million Americans age 55 or older run their own
businesses or are otherwise self-employed, according to the Small
Business Administration (SBA). Furthermore the numbers (of
self-employed people ages 55 to 64) are soaring, climbing 52% from
2000 to 2007. One of the reasons for such statistics is that
unemployed people age 55 and older have been out of work for 36
weeks on average.
Money-Making Reports Available From BarterNews
Were All In The Relationship Business
Ask anyone who has been in business for a while, and theyll tell
you how valuable their key customers are. And, after you get to know
them better theyll candidly admit that without these key business
relationships theyd probably be out of business.
Thats because your business endeavors have only three ways to grow
more revenues:
1)
You can attract more customers.
2)
You can generate more business from existing customers.
3)
You can increase the size of the order which means more revenue.
Think about it for a minute and youll note that two of the three
methods involve customer retention, not new customer acquisition.
In the accompanying box youll see three examples of companies that
realize the value and importance of developing and enhancing unique
relationships with their clients.
Theyre not so busy looking for new markets to exploit or new
products to introduce, that they dont spend enough time on
strategies to keep existing customers in the fold. The key to
developing excellent customer relationships is to focus on whats
most important:

Are you doing all you can to promote customer loyalty in your
everyday business operations?

How much business is each customer doing with you?

And, how many of your customers are referring new people to you?
A
companys reputation is created at every point of contact. The
system you operate in is most important. It consists of your
advertising and communications, your telemarketing, plus your
fulfillment capabilities whether they be mail-order or retail
operations.
Your goal should be to make your customers experience with you a
satisfying one! Do it, and you will build a powerful
relationship-based business.
