Here’s Two Bootstrapping Techniques For You

Bootstrapping is the art of learning to do more with less. Entrepreneurs across America have repeatedly started successful businesses on a wing and a prayer plus one special ingredient: an understanding of the art of bootstrapping.

Here are a couple of tried and tested bootstrapping techniques:

  • Ask major clients to purchase the key equipment that you’ll need to service their account, and then lease it back from them.
  • 2) Offer shares in your company to vendors, landlords and key employees in lieu of cash, subject to federal and state securities law and acceptable dilution ratios. (Sam Walton used this tactic when starting Wal-Mart — and his former secretaries and office workers are now multi-millionaires.)

What’s The best “Alternative Investment” These Days?

According to the Historic Automobile Group Index, which tracks the financial performance of 50 rare and exotic classic cars, the value of classic cars has jumped 39% this year.  These cars have outperformed collectibles such as gold, wine, art, stamps and coins over the past ten years.

Although 75% of classic car buyers are based in the U.S., interest is rising in other parts of the world.

Ultra-High Net Worth Individuals Mounting

The global elite are sometimes referred to as ultra-high net worth individuals. And their numbers are growing quite dramatically. To be considered an ‘ultra-high net worth person’ you would have a net worth of over US$50 million. Presently there are 98,700 such individuals, up from 14,200 from last year.

Where do these global elite — very roughly the world’s richest 0.00001387015% —  live? Mostly in one country: the United States.

Your Trade Exchange Is A Unique Networking Conduit

We hear it over and over, just meet enough people through networking and you will naturally increase your business. If you’ve been following this tack and making little progress, here’s a suggestion …

Begin to demand more from your networking efforts by using a strategy known as bridging, which is building a foundation of contacts. Ones that are sure to provide you with sales opportunities now as well as in the future. In other words, move forward with the idea of compiling a list of people you can depend upon — connecting with people who have potential value to each other. Eventually the bridge will lead back to you.

A great place to meet such people, those who think and act like you, is at your trade exchange functions. You’ll meet other entrepreneurs who see the value of networking.

Make it a goal to meet and chat with two new people at each event you attend. And because they’re all interested in barter — using trade dollars to purchase goods and services — soon you’ll have compiled a list of people you can depend on. It’s the time-tested way to build an all important and unique business network for today’s competitive world.

Greco Continues His Tireless Alternative Currency Efforts

Thomas H. Greco, Jr., a community economist who writes on the subject of free market alternative currency and monetary systems, reports that he’s completed his nine-week European tours (mid-June through August). Coming back to the States he next spoke in Las Vegas at IRTA’s worldwide annual convention in September. Greco says all of the efforts were successful, productive, exciting and … exhausting.

Greco has authored four books on monetary theory and how monetary alternatives can empower communities. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University, acquired a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Rochester, and did additional course work pursuant to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Syracuse University. For 14 years he taught economics, finance, entrepreneurship and forecasting as a faculty member at Rochester Institute of Technology’s college of business.

He’s still hoping to get involved in an adequately funded breakthrough project, with an able and energetic team that can achieve results that are on a par with the best business start-ups.
