Las Vegas Occupancy Tops 93 Percent!

More rooms are needed...thats the message for the Las Vegas hotel market. The City that Never Sleeps has the highest national occupancy rate, averaging 93.2% last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. (Thats more than 30% higher than the national average.)

Las Vegas is already the biggest hotel market in the country with 344 hotels having 154,000 rooms. Plus, there are another 60 hotels with 46,000 rooms presently in the development pipeline.

Shift In Advertising Industry Taking Place

Microsofts $6 billion purchase of Quantive, an online marketing company, marks a tangible shift in the advertising industry overall with the digital space slated to capture a larger percentage of the $600 billion business.

It has been discussed in theory for years, noted a senior analyst at Forrester Research. But by trading so much money in this space, the big players are betting the marketers will follow, moving even more of their money away from traditional advertising.

Is This A Sign That Market Is Peaking?

With the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 at their historical highs, and individual borrowing to buy stocks breaking records, it appears that the stock market may be peaking.

Margin debt for individual investors hit a record $296 billion in February, according to NYSE Euronext data. Before this year, the record was $279 billion, set in March 2000 near the peak of the high-tech bubble...just before it burst.

MySpace Barter Strategy Promises Huge Payoff!

Already one of the most visited sites in cyberspace, MySpace (the social-networking web site) continues to move forward in building one of the Internets most successful juggernauts.

Now theyre resorting to the age-old, proven way-of-doing business...ambitiously bartering with some of the biggest names in the media business, to obtain a dramatic video content on their site. (MySpace now has 100 million users from around the world.)

Everything from entertainment, news, how-to, and animation will be forthcoming as MySpace trades with the likes of The New York Times, Reuters, National Geographic, the Animation Show, the Daily Reel, Expert Village and Young Hollywood, as well as thousands of micro-communities.

The barter formula is straight forward: Provide us with some of your content in exchange for space on our site. With MySpace, one of the most visited sites on the Internet, such a barter offer is extremely enticing. Not to mention that there will be more content to monitize and additional advertising opportunities for the company, which already carries ads from 90 of the top 100 global brands.

Bed & Breakfasts Push Two-For-One Program To Increase Occupancy

With gas prices climbing it is anticipated that many people will choose to stay closer to home this Memorial Day weekend. They are additionally expected to opt for lower priced lodging and cheaper restaurants.

American Historic Inns bed and breakfast (B&B) members have come up with a program that will allow you to stay at half price at some of the most interesting, most luxurious and most historic country inns and B&Bs in the nation.

Instead of staying one night, you can stay for two...for the same price with this program. There are 1560 B&Bs and country inns listed in the 18th edition of the Bed & Breakfasts and Country Inns that offer the two-for-one program.

Editors note: In addition to this program, the B&Bs should be interacting with the commercial barter industry to increase their low occupancy.

China, South Vietnam Building Trans-Border Area For Barter & Global Economy Cooperation

China and Vietnam have been working jointly to set up a 8.5-sq-km trans-border economic cooperative area in the city of Pingyang, in South Chinas Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Liangshang province of Vietnam respectively.

This trans-border area, comprising the main trade and logistics cooperation area and a machining coop area, follows the managerial mode of linking two nations with one area, inside the border but beyond customs and a free trade with confined operation. It will benefit from the open policy of barter trade, service trade and free investment.

The original cargo and goods made in China and Vietnam could get into this area freely, except for materials or goods as banned or prohibited by the relevant laws of either country. Products made in this area can enjoy half the taxation or half the tache tax whenever they get into markets of either country.

Hotel General Managers

Heres The Easiest $100,000 Youll Ever
Bring To The Bottomline!

Collect cash, as usual, from the guest accounts staying at your facility that require the use of professional AV services. And rather than shouldering your ongoing employee costs, or your current vendors cash agreement for AV services, heres a much better alternative:

Work with a proven national vendor (a sterling 25-year track record) who will provide all of the AV services for your hotel on a 100% TRADE BASIS! (Payment to be in the form of hotel rooms and/or trade dollars.)

Your hotels annual AV billings must be a minimum of $200,000, and this offer is available only in the continental United States.

For a confidential introduction contact Bob Meyer via e-mail: bmeyer@barternews.com. (Please type in AV Services On Trade in the subject line of your e-mail.)

Attention Trade Exchange Owners:

If your member hotel(s) have a minimum of 10,000 sq. feet of meeting space and annual billings of at least $200,000 for AV services this is a great opportunity to earn substantial cash service fees on the hundreds of thousands of trade dollars your hotel member will be paying the vendor. Contact Bob Meyer at the above e-mail.
