Bragging Is Fun & Pleasurable

Harvard University neuroscientists say that self-disclosure is extra rewarding. In fact, talking about ourselves � whether in a personal conversation or through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter � triggers the same sensation of pleasure in the brain as food or money.

(About 40% of everyday speech is devoted to telling others about what we think or feel.)

Noted Financial Expert Defines Inflation

Noted monetary expert James Grant recently defined what deflation is and isn�t �

Deflation is a derangement of debt, a symptom of which is falling prices. In a credit crisis when inventories become unfinanceable, merchandise is thrown on the market and prices fall. That�s deflation.

Deflation is NOT a drop in prices caused by technology-enhanced decline in the cost of production. That�s called progress.

IRTA Pushes Social Media Program

The International Reciprocal Trade Association�s (IRTA) Board of Director�s has approved the launch of IRTA�s social media program. The expansive effort will include Facebook, Twitter and a web site blog, along with the Executive Director�s Linkedin profile.

Members are encouraged to go to IRTA�s web site (www.irta.com) and get involved, thereby increasing awareness of the barter industry to the general public.

Borrowing�s Up For Americans � Except For Mortgages

In last week�s issue we reported on the big increase of �renters� in America. Now new reports on consumer borrowing confirms the movement away from mortgages. Consumer�s borrowing shows that debt on credit cards, car loans and student loans, all rose at a seasonal adjusted annual rate of 10.2% with the exception of mortgages.

ITEX�s 30^th Annual Convention Plus Shareholder Meeting Held This Week Seattle

ITEX Corporation (OTCBB:ITEX), announced its annual national convention is being held at the Red Lion Hotel on 5th Avenue this week, May 14 through 17, in downtown Seattle (WA). To launch this special occasion, ITEX hosted its annual shareholder meeting at the Monday onset.

�ITEX, a leading marketplace for cashless business transactions in North America, each year hosts a first-class international convention for its franchisees, brokers and staff, the largest in its industry,� declared CEO and Chairman Steven White. �We dedicate a solid three days to strategizing, sharing ideas and learning from each other. Highlights

Monday � Annual Shareholders Meeting � The afternoon meeting boasted an enthusiastic crowd, exceeding 70 in attendance. Following the meeting, franchisees enjoyed a sunny, warm evening with an opening night mixer at the Terrace Lounge, featuring Seattle�s largest outside deck.

Tuesday � Owners Day � Miss Washington state, Britney Henry, welcomed franchisees and introduced CEO Steven White for opening comments, which was followed by a Q & A session. Additional sessions for franchise owners focused on how to grow and manage their businesses.

Wednesday � New Member Registrations & Customer Service � The Customer Service presentation will focus on how to hire effective sales people, prospecting tools, sales presentation tips/strategies and closing techniques; concurrent with a full slate of customer service best practices and technique sessions.

Thursday � Corporate Overviews � Presentation by both ITEX�s CEO and Vice President Brian Argetsinger, including Seattle Storm (W-NBA team) CEO Karen Bryant discussing sports and business, as well as Senator Michael Baumgartner on economic development. The day will be ending with an evening Awards Ceremony and dinner celebrating the achievements of the franchisees this past year.
