IMS Barter — Platinum Sponsor For 34th Annual IRTA Convention

IRTA has announced that International Monetary Systems (IMS), www.IMSbarter.com, will be the platinum sponsor for this year’s 34th annual international convention at the Las Vegas Venetian Resort from September 19 through 21, 2013. This is the sixth year in a row that IMS has been the platinum sponsor for the International Reciprocal Trade Association’s annual convention.

“IMS has come through in a big way for IRTA once again. We are extremely thankful for their continued support,” said IRTA’s Executive Director Ron Whitney.

IMS Chief Executive Officer, John Strabley commented, “IRTA consistently holds important and meaningful conventions for our industry at fantastic venues. IMS is committed to, and believes in, the significant contributions IRTA makes to the barter industry. Our platinum sponsorship support for this year’s Venetian convention was an easy decision.”

For more information on the convention, contact Ron Whitney at ron@irta.com or (757) 393-2292.

Ready To Take That Quick Weekend Get-Away?

The paradox of planning a trip is that it often makes life more stressful, not less. That’s why the newest type of vacation — the quick get-away — is so popular. Today’s time-starved couples can relax and enjoy a weekend jaunt to an urban hotel, then return home refreshed and energized.

According to the Travel Industry Association, the number of weekend trips that people take has jumped 70% in the last decade. And get-aways of one to five days now account for about half of all U.S. travel.

Hotels have long marketed to hometown clientele, by offering “romantic” weekends away from the kids. The latest comes from hoteliers and retailers working in tandem, providing various discounts and incentives for hotel guests at nearby stores.

So, whether you want to get away for a quiet weekend, indulge in a romantic interlude, or have some time to shop — you’ll want to check with your trade broker on the availability of nearby hotels and resorts.

Is Your Trade Exchange Missing Out On Valuable New Business?

If your barter company’s listing on BarterNews.com isn’t current, you are definitely missing out on new business. Is your barter company’s listing up-to-date?

Creating The Ideal Business Sign

Whether you’re looking to change your company’s image or not, a new sign may be just what you need to grab more attention and boost your business. Here are some tips to keep in mind when you think about a redesign of your company’s sign.

Keep it simple. When it comes to copy, less is better because people simply cannot read much copy when they race by in their car. Certainly it’s okay to put your logo on your sign, but avoid the temptation to add anything else — even your phone number.

Consider surroundings. If there are numerous other signs at about the same height as yours, consider mounting it higher or lower, or use different style lettering — anything to stand out.

Be bright. Red and yellow coloring attract the most attention. Unique color combinations are another way to catch someone’s eye. The type of lighting is also important. Neon attracts attention and establishes a contemporary image.

Bigger is better. A good rule of thumb is to get as big a sign as you’re allowed by local ordinances.

Get tough materials. Aluminum and polycarbonate materials are the best in the long run. Consider the following: weather conditions, the sign’s location, required life, appearance, and your budget. Consult with your trade exchange broker for sign companies within the exchange.

Maintain your sign. A well-maintained sign projects a positive image. Normal cleaning can be done by yourself, or through a maintenance company from the exchange.

In closing, think of your sign as a billboard advertisement. If it’s electric, leave it on 24-hours a day. You can also complement your main sign with a “sandwich board” outside your shop, and decals or painted signs on your company vehicles.
